Kim Kardashian came across one of those tricky parenting moments on the latest episode of ‘The Kardashians‘ when a treasured item connected to her late father arrived at her home. It was supposed to be a warm family moment, but it quickly changed course when her daughter, Chicago, asked a question Kim wasn’t prepared to answer.
Chicago’s innocent question caught Kim off guard, as there’s an O.J. Simpson connection as well, and the way Kim hesitated made it clear that she wasn’t ready to explain the full story just yet.
Kim Kardashian’s Bible Unboxing Turns Awkward

The episode showed Kim winning an auction for a Bible that once belonged to her father, Robert Kardashian Sr. At first, she thought it was the Bible he had given O.J. Simpson during the 1994 murder trial. But once she looked closely, she realized it was actually her dad’s own Bible with his name written inside. She said she hadn’t known that and looked emotional holding it.

Chicago was sitting beside her when she opened the package, so Kim tried to explain why the book mattered. She told her daughter that her dad once gave the Bible to his best friend to help him feel encouraged. When Chicago asked what motivation meant, Kim explained it as helping someone feel inspired to do good things.
In her confessional, Kim said Chicago was still too young to understand the full story behind the Bible. She mentioned that even though her daughter didn’t really get the meaning, she still wanted to share the moment with her. Then came the awkward part.
While flipping through the pages, Kim noticed handwriting that didn’t look like her dad’s. Trying to explain, Kim told Chicago it must have been O.J. Simpson’s and said he went to jail. But she quickly stopped herself. And that uncomfortable pause led straight into the much bigger story behind this Bible.
Why Kim Avoided Saying The Whole Story To Chicago

That brief moment opened the door to the bigger story connected to the book. The date inside the Bible showed that Robert signed it on June 18, 1994, the day after O.J. Simpson was arrested and charged with the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman. Simpson was later acquitted in 1995. Still, the Brown and Goldman families took him to civil court the following year and won more than $33 million.

Kim also shared that getting the Bible in the first place didn’t go smoothly. She tried offering Simpson’s estate $15,000 privately to avoid an auction. But when the offer leaked to the press, the sudden attention pushed people to bid higher, and Kim had to compete publicly. She ended up winning it for $65,800 or $80,276 with the buyer’s premium while using an alias to stay hidden.
Both men tied to the Bible have passed away. Robert died in 2003 from esophageal cancer at 59, and Simpson died in April 2024 from prostate cancer at 76. Knowing that added even more meaning for Kim as she held the book.
Even with all that history behind it, Kim didn’t keep the Bible for herself. She later gifted it to her sister, Khloé Kardashian, on Easter so the whole family could share it. She said she didn’t have many of her dad’s belongings because they didn’t receive much after he died, so seeing his handwriting again felt incredibly special.
