Kim Novak is not holding back when it comes to the upcoming biopic ‘Scandalous‘. The legendary ‘Vertigo‘ actress has openly criticized the casting of Sydney Sweeney, and it’s already raising concerns.
Novak has now hinted at deeper concerns about how her story will be told, especially regarding her relationship with Sammy Davis Jr.

After making her stance clear, Novak went on to explain exactly what didn’t sit right with her about the casting. She pointed out that Sydney Sweeney “sticks out so much above the waist,” suggesting that the physicality and overall presence feel off to her.

Going ahead, she didn’t soften her words. Novak firmly stated, “I would never have approved,” making it clear that she would not have supported this decision if she had any say in it. It’s not just about the looks, though; it’s about whether the film will truly reflect who she was.
The film will focus on her relationship with Sammy Davis Jr. David Jonsson has been cast as Davis, and Colman Domingo is directing. Even though filming hasn’t started yet, the casting has already created a lot of discussion.
Novak Fears Film Will Focus Too Much On Sexual Narrative
Novak also shared her concerns about how her relationship with Davis will be shown. She said their connection was not just about attraction, but something deeper, adding that they had “so much in common.”

Still, she believes the film might focus too much on the physical side of things. She said, “There’s no way it wouldn’t be a sexual relationship because Sydney Sweeney looks sexy all the time.” At the same time, Novak spoke about the racism Davis faced during that time. She said, “Because of the color of his skin, people did terrible things.”
She also cleared up old rumors about their relationship. Novak said, “No, no,” and explained, “I mean, he loved me. I cared for him deeply. But at that time, I never wanted to marry anybody.”
