“Jon Finally Accepted His Targaryen Roots”: Kit Harington And Sophie Turner’s Kiss Video Sends ‘Game Of Thrones’ Fans Into Meltdown

In Short
  • A behind-the-scenes video of Kit Harington and Sophie Turner kissing for their film 'The Dreadful' went viral.
  • Fans reacted humorously, referencing their past roles as Jon Snow and Sansa Stark in 'Game of Thrones.'
  • Both actors expressed discomfort with the kissing scene, acknowledging the awkwardness due to their history.

The internet had thoughts this week after a behind-the-scenes video of Kit Harington and Sophie Turner filming a kiss for their new horror movie, ‘The Dreadful,’ went viral.

In the video, which was uploaded by Entertainment Tonight, the ex-’Game of Thrones’ co-stars kiss each other in a scene, and then instantly gag as the word cut is called. The crew breaks out into laughter. So did the internet.

For long-time viewers of ‘Game of Thrones’, the scene is like a glitch in the matrix. Harington and Turner, after all, spent years as half-siblings, Jon Snow and Sansa Stark. Seeing them turn around between gloomy Winterfell family meals and romance? It’s understandably surreal. “Oh, now he wants to follow his Targaryen roots,” one fan joked, referencing Jon Snow’s late-series revelation about his true heritage.

Another quipped, “Jon finally accepted his lineage as a Targaryen.” Viewers did not miss the irony as they recalled the complex family tree of the show. The remarks were playful and shocking. Most of them said that they physically shuddered at the sight of the clip, only to replay it immediately because the awkwardness was just too good.

The weirdness has been openly admitted by the actors themselves. Turner had earlier termed the experience as being really weird for all of them. She recalled that even reading the script was weird, considering the history they had together.

Harington echoed the sentiment in interviews, even revealing he had to stand on an apple box during filming because Turner is taller.

Still, there is a veil of nostalgia under the jokes. The reunion is the first significant on-screen collaboration between the two since ‘Game of Thrones’ concluded in 2019. And as the viral gagging moment is taking over the headlines, it is also a reminder of how fans still associate them with the Stark family dynamic.
