Todd Philips’ ‘Joker: Folie à Deux hasn’t resonated with the audience as much as its iconic first part. The film was heavily promoted and claimed to be darker than the previous ‘Joker’ film. Moreover, it also marked Lady Gaga’s debut as Harley Quinn, and she was enthusiastic about it.
As the film continues to perform poorly at the box office, Lady Gaga is taken aback by the negative responses the film has received. She is perhaps all the more confused because the current reviews are in stark contrast with the positive reception the film received from critics at the Venice Film Festival.
Lady Gaga Is Saddened By The Negative Responses To ‘Joker: Folie À Deux’
The recently released ‘Joker’ movie was only hit with a disappointing 33% on Rotten Tomatoes with the lowest Cinema score in the history of comic book-based films. It only managed to make $40 million in domestic release and is all set to release worldwide too.

According to a source who spoke with UK’s Daily Mail, Lady Gaga is shocked after seeing the disappointing numbers. The source, who is close to the singer-actor, said, “Gaga is surprised by the response to Joker 2 and is shocked that people don’t love it after the response it received from critics before it premiered. She put so much heart into the movie and has so much respect for the DC Comics fan base.”
However, the movie failed not because of Lady Gaga or Joaquin Phoenix’s performance, but the storyline and other issues like its overly dark theme blended with music.
Lady Gaga’s Team Is Looking For More Acting Opportunities For Her
Lady Gaga put a lot of effort into bringing her character to life in ‘Joker: Folie à Deux’, but the film’s success wasn’t in her hands. She did her job well, and it’s time for her to move on to other projects. Despite the bad reviews, she’s not letting it sabotage her acting career, as Gaga is still positive and eyeing a Quentin Tarantino movie.

“She is disappointed that Joker is pretty much a bomb,” the source said. “She thought that this film could get her an Oscar nomination, especially since the first film was such a success and Joaquin won an Oscar”.
“She would now like to land a role in Quentin Tarantino’s next and final film. Nobody knows what that is going to be, but she wants to audition,” the source continued.
The source added that her team is quietly looking for other projects and wants to roll out as they want to move on from this as quickly as possible.
