Filmed over two decades ago, ‘Gilmore Girls‘ is a cult classic. Lauren Graham’s portrayal of Lorelai Gilmore is top-tier, and fans can’t see anyone other than Lauren as Lorelai. However, it was reported that Sherilyn Finn was Amy Sherman-Palladino’s first choice for the role.
Sherilyn auditioned for the role and got it, but she had other commitments and therefore had to drop the role. Here’s what happened.
Sherilyn Fenn Made A Guest Appearance In ‘Gilmore Girls’ Despite Not Taking The Role
‘Gilmore Gilrs’ Creator Amy Sherman-Palladino originally wanted Sherilyn Fenn to audition for the role of Lorelai Gilmore. But as per IMDB, she was appearing in ‘Rude Awakening‘ at the time and therefore did not take up the role. However, director Amy Sherman-Palladino managed to incorporate Sherilyn into the series.
Fenn made two guest appearances on the show: one as Jess’s father’s girlfriend, Sasha, who Jess meets when he visits his father and Sasha’s house in Venice Beach. The second guest appearance was made as Anna Nardini, Luke’s old flame and the mother of his teenage daughter, Anna.
Sherilyn Fenn is popularly known for her role in Audrey Horne’s ‘Twin Peaks’ and in popular 90’s movies like ‘Of Mice and Men’, ‘Three of Hearts, and ‘Fatal Instinct’.

Lauren Graham has been working in the industry for quite a long time now, but she got her breakthrough after her role in the ‘Gilmore Girls’, which aired in 2000. Alongside her iconic role, she also appeared in ‘Bad Santa‘, ‘Parenthood‘, and ‘Seeing Other People‘.

In 2016, she appeared in ‘Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life’ alongside the other cast including, Bledel, Bishop, Ventimiglia, Matt Czuchry, Scott Patterson, Yanic Truesdale, Sean Gunn, and Keiko Agena. Although the whole cast reprised their roles, Sherilyn Fenn did not. She yet managed to remain one of the most beloved characters of the show.
