Liam Neeson Talks About ‘Star Wars’ Spin-Offs
Liam Neeson played the role of Qui-Gon Jinn in the 1999 space opera flick ‘Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace.’ It was the first film in the prequel trilogy. However, he believes the franchise has suffered over the years.
Recently, the 70-year-old actor joined Paul Rudd for an episode of ‘Watch What Happens Live!‘. When asked if he wants to return to the franchise, Leeson said: “No, I’m not.”
He added, “There’s so many spinoffs of ‘Star Wars.’ It’s diluting it to me, and it’s taken away the mystery and the magic in a weird way.” In the Disney+ series ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi‘, Neeson did a cameo and hasn’t returned to the franchise since.

‘Star Wars’ Has Been Bloated With Spin-Offs
After the prequel trilogy concluded with the 2005’s ‘Revenge of the Sith‘, Lucasfilm was sold to Disney who revamped the franchise. A sequel trilogy was born which concluded in 2019 with ‘The Rise of Skywalker.’
The franchise has since expanded with several spin-offs like ‘The Mandalorian,’ ‘The Book of Boba Fett,’ ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi‘ and ‘Andor.’ ‘Mandalorian‘ is set to return for a third season while new shows like ‘Ashoka‘ and ‘The Acolyte‘ are also planned for release.
Neeson said that he wants to reprise the role of Qui-Gon Jinn but only if it’s a film. “Oh, I think so, yeah, yeah, yeah, I think so…if it was a film“, he said.
