Marlon Wayans, the comedic mastermind behind the ‘Scary Movie’ franchise recently opened up about his relationship with Harvey Weinstein and Miramax. Wayans revealed that he believes Weinstein’s downfall was a form of divine retribution for the mistreatment he and his family endured.
The Wayans family is behind a lot of classics like ‘White Chicks’ and ‘Littleman’. However, according to Marlon, despite their success, their production company Miramax robbed them of a bad deal.
Marlon Wayans Accused Harvey Weinstein Of Giving Him A “Crappy Deal”
The ‘Scary Movie‘ franchise, started by the Waynas family, was a huge success and ended up having four sequels. It is considered a classic franchise that started the trend of horror comedy films. However, behind the scenes, the family faced a lot of challenges and frustrations in their dealings with Miramax.
Miramax, the production company founded by Harvey Weinstein, was accused of conning the family by Marlon. Wayans while talking to Club Shay Shay revealed that his family received a “crappy” deal for the first Scary Movie film, which laid the groundwork for a strained relationship with Miramax. As the sequels progressed, the Wayans brothers felt increasingly marginalized.
Moreover, Miramax hiring the Zucker brothers to direct ‘Scary Movie 3’ based on ideas from the Wayans family further escalated things. This move, according to Wayans, was done without their knowledge or consent. Additionally, Marlon expressed regret for not taking legal action against Weinstein for stealing their ideas. He believes that Weinstein and Miramax exploited their talent and creativity.
Wayans Believes Harvey Weinstein’s Downfall Was His Karma

When God comes for you, you gotta trust God. You don’t retaliate, vengeance is mine,” he stated.
