Martin Scorsese just took away a whopping 10 Oscar nominations for ‘Killers Of The Flower Moon‘ and is already set for yet another high-stakes project with Leonardo DiCaprio. Reports suggest that Scorsese is all set to star DiCaprio in the lead role in a biographical drama based on legendary crooner Frank Sinatra’s personal life.
With Leonardo DiCaprio as Sinatra, Jennifer Lawrence will assume the role of his second wife, Ava Gardner. Although Scorsese is one of the biggest names in Hollywood and it may seem like he can simply snap his fingers and make a movie happen, there are some obstacles that the film’s making may have to face.
Tina Sinatra, Frank’s daughter, is currently the owner of her father’s estate and has not yet given a green signal to the project. Adding to the uncertainty around the project is the film’s focus on the period when Sinatra’s relationship with Gardner became the reason for the divorce from his first wife and Tina’s mother, Nancy Barbato.
Martin Scorsese Has Another Interesting Project Focused On Jesus Underway
Nevertheless, it is expected that Tina Sinatra would take into consideration the talent that would go into the making of the film, with one of cinema’s most revered directors and two of Hollywood’s biggest stars.
Besides, it is yet to be confirmed what production the film might be made under. With Sony emerging as the top contender, Apple and Paramount are in tough competition as the former also backed the last hit ‘Killers of the Flower Moon‘.
Meanwhile, Scorsese is also looking forward to some other projects including a drama titled ‘Silence‘, centered around Jesus and adapted from Shūsaku Endō’s 1973 book by the same name. Andrew Garfield is likely to be among the cast of the drama though it is unclear whether or not he will play Jesus in the film.
While still seeking independent financing for the film, Scorsese plans to start filming later this year across Israel, Italy, and Egypt. However, the ongoing Israel-Hamas War may require him to change the location.
