Matthew Fox has opened up about the personal reasons behind his extended break from acting. The 59-year-old, known for his iconic portrayal of Dr. Jack Shepherd in the popular ABC series ‘Lost,’ stepped away from the spotlight around 2015 following roles in ‘Alex Cross‘ and ‘Bone Tomahawk.’
Now, in a recent interview at the premiere of his Paramount+ series, ‘The Madison,’ Fox disclosed that his deliberate seven-year hiatus was prompted by the hectic demands of ‘Lost‘ and other projects, which led him to miss a large part of his children’s childhood.

While Matthew Fox remained largely absent from major projects, he used the period to reconnect with his wife, Margherita Ronchi, and their two children.
“I felt like it was time to engage really intensely with my family. And I did that.“
