Henry Cavill fell prey to an AI-generated movie trailer of James Bond and many now believe that he is the new face of the famous detective, after the video crossed over 2.5 million views on YouTube. The connection between Bond and Cavill goes back to when he auditioned for the role but it was given to Daniel Craig.
During a recent interview with ‘The Rich Eisen Show‘, Cavill denied having any information about his prospects for the role when he was questioned about his connection with Bond and the rumors around it.
“I have no idea. All I have to go off of is the rumors. I have the same information you have, maybe I’m too old now or maybe I’m not. We’ll see what the [producers’] plans are,” Cavill said during the interview where he was promoting his latest film ‘The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare‘.

Henry Cavill Was Rejected As The Potential James Bond Because Of His Young Age At The Time
Though luck didn’t work out for Henry Cavill when he auditioned for the role in the past, it was reported that he was extremely close to getting it. Martin Campbell liked Cavill’s audition for James Bond, but the film’s producer Barbara Broccoli liked Daniel Craig’s performance and he was finalized as the new Bond. The infamous reason behind Cavill’s rejection was his young age.
The director of the movie, Martin Campbell, revealed during an interview with Express U.K. that he loved Cavill’s performance during the audition. “He looked great in the audition. His acting was tremendous,” Campbell said.
“And look, if Daniel didn’t exist, Henry would have made an excellent Bond. He looked terrific, he was in great physical shape … very handsome, very chiseled. He just looked a little young at that time back then,” he added.
Campbell also explained the situation at the time, when it was hard to choose a single person from 8 people for the role.
