Meryl Streep Breaks Her Own Golden Globes Record with 33 Nominations

After the Golden Globes nominations were announced on Monday, veteran actress Meryl Streep broke her own record as the most-nominated actor in the history of the acclaimed awards. The 73-year-old actress was nominated for the 33rd time this year for her role in Hulu’s ‘Only Murders in the Building‘, wherein she played the character of Loretta Durkin.

Nominated for the Best Supporting Female Actor category, Streep is in tough competition with other honed nominees including Elizabeth Debicki, Abby Elliott, Christina Ricci, J Smith-Cameron, and Hannah Waddingham. In the show that she is nominated for, Streep plays the role of an actress trapped in a murder mystery.

Meryl Streep Nominated For Golden Globes For ‘Only Murders In The Building’

Being the versatile and talented actor that Meryl is, she has done full justice to her role on the show created by John Hoffman. Hoffman, who also lauded the Hollywood icon for her acting, has said he is hopeful about Streep’s return in the next season of the show.

Meanwhile, Streep continues to shine on the small screen, as she did her recent debut in the second episode of ‘Extrapolation‘. Titled ‘2046: Whale Fall‘, the episode shows Streep as Rebecca’s late mother, Eve. She has also lent her voice to the last humpback whale on Earth on the show.

Streep’s Career Continues To Shine

Meryl Streep’s career graph is one of the shiniest in Hollywood. While the Golden Globes recognizes her as one of the best artists out there, she has also been bestowed with several other prestigious awards and titles.

Her roles in ‘The Iron Lady‘, ‘The French Lieutenant’s Woman‘, ‘Angels in America‘, ‘Adaptation‘, ‘Julie & Julia‘, ‘The Devil Wears Prada‘, ‘Sophie’s Choice‘, and ‘Kramer vs. Kramer‘ are especially celebrated.

Streep’s contribution to the entertainment industry was awarded the Cecil B. DeMille honor for lifetime achievement at the Golden Globes in 2017. In her award acceptance speech, Streep addressed some important social issues including immigration.
