Another kind soul taken too soon. Tina Turner, the undisputed ‘Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll,’ is no longer of the mortal world. The iconic voice behind ‘What’s Love Got To Do With It’ passed away in her Switzerland home. Her spokesperson announced Turner’s peaceful demise, mourning the loss of a “music legend” and a “role model.”
Tina Turner won 12 Grammy Awards, sold 100 million records, and was inducted into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame as a solo artist in 2021. She is survived by her husband, Erwin Bach, and two of her four sons. Turner was diagnosed with intestinal cancer in 2016 and underwent a kidney transplant in 2017.

Long before Tina Turner, she was born Anna Mae Bullock. A farmer’s daughter, she sang in the church choir at Nutbush’s Spring Hill Baptist Church. Juggy Murray, president of the R&B label Sue Records, rebranded Bullock as ‘Tina Turner,’ lending her his last name and trademarking it. Her first name, Tina, was inspired by Sheena the Jungle Queen.
Soon, she rose to fame as the lead singer of the Ike & Tina Turner Revue. She left her husbands Ike after years of suffering abuse, relaunching her career as one of the most impactful solo careers ever. Tina Turner suffered cancer, a stroke, and kidney failure. At 83, her body eventually gave up after a long history of illness.

The world is still mourning the death of ‘Queen Of Rock ‘n’ Roll.’ The music industry titans and other prominent figures have paid their final respects to the legend. Angela Bassett, who played the late singer in her biopic, ‘What’s Love Got to Do with It,’ laid out an in-depth tribute in her Instagram post, calling Turner “simply the best.”
