The developments in Megan Thee Stallion and Tory Lanez’s cases are confounding! It all began at the fateful party at Kylie Jenner’s Hollywood Hills house in July 2020. Megan accused rapper Tory Lanez of repeatedly shooting her on foot. She confirmed the news on Instagram Live, accusing Lanez’s PR of spreading false news. However, Megan told the police that, at the time of the shooting, she had gotten a glass cut.
The trial began, and in December 2022, Tory Lanez was found guilty of three counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, personal use of a firearm, and carrying an unregistered firearm. Since then, he has been kept in the Los Angeles County jail. But Tory has finally been sentenced to 10 years of prison time for the shooting incident. The ‘Body’ rapper has come out to talk about the mental state that she was in during the legal fiasco.

Megan Thee Stallion Considers Herself A Survivor Rather Than A Victim
Since 2020, Tory Lanez and Megan Thee Stallion have gone back and forth over the latter’s shooting allegations. Megan talked about the incident in several interviews, and Lanez released a whole album about it. He even violated his bail after attacking August Alsina, for which he was under house arrest.
Now, Tory Lanez will be serving prison time for 10 years, and Megan Thee Stallion has reflected on the turmoil she went through in an article in Elle. At the beginning of the article, the ‘Thot S**t’ rapper claims to be a survivor rather than a victim.
She wrote, “Not only did I survive being shot by someone I trusted and considered a close friend, but I overcame the public humiliation of having my name and reputation dragged through the mud by that individual for the entire world to see.”
Megan added, “For years, my attacker laughed and joked about my trauma. For years, my attacker peddled false narratives about what happened on the night of July 12, 2020. For years, my attacker tried to leverage social media to take away my power. Imagine how it feels to be called a liar every day. Especially from a person who was once part of your inner circle.”

The Rapper Did Not Feel Like Making Music After Falling Into Depression
Despite the attack, Megan Thee Stallion made public appearances, performed, danced, and put up a smile. In the article, she confessed that people felt she healed, but the truth was that she fell into depression. Megan wrote, “The truth is that I started falling into a depression. I didn’t feel like making music.”
The rapper continued, “I was in such a low place that I didn’t even know what I wanted to rap about. I wondered if people even cared anymore. There would be times that I’d literally be backstage or in my hotel, crying my eyes out, and then I’d have to pull Megan Pete together and be Megan Thee Stallion.”
Now that the court has declared Tory Lanez imprisoned for 10 years, Megan Thee Stallion has also been actively working on her healing process. She has been getting back to reclaiming her life by spending time with her dogs and manager and devoting time to praying. She confessed that she is in a happier place, but the artist is still anxious.
Megan reflected, “I’m in a happier place, but I still have anxiety. Talking about being shot still makes me emotional. I’ve started journaling as a way to better process my thoughts, hopes, and fears. Prayer has also played a therapeutic role in my healing because I can have honest and unfiltered conversations with God without any judgment.”
