‘The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare‘, the action film with Henry Cavill in the lead role, has hit the theatres and doing quite well. Based on the true story of the first-ever special forces organization formed by Winston Churchill during World War II, the movie tells a touching saga of war and the misery it causes.
Though war movies often have a touch of romance for the drama element, it wasn’t the case in ‘The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare‘. Laden with blood and war scenes, the film is a pure work of war piece. Even though there is a potential couple in the storyline with Eiza González starring opposite Cavill, they didn’t share any romantic scenes in the movie. And González thinks it’s a good thing. Here’s what she said.
Henry Cavill And Eiza González Were On Their Separate Tasks In The Movie
Eiza González shared that she couldn’t be happier to not share any romantic scene with Cavill in the movie. She believed that the characters had their different stories going on and the decision to not involve any romantic twist was great.
During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, she opened up about the same suggesting that each character in the film has their own storyline. “I think that’s such a unique take on it. We see these movies, and romance is such a big part of these films — and don’t get me wrong, I love romance, and I love watching it. There’s nothing more magical than seeing that James Bond moment where it’s so sexy,” she said.
“But I really like that each character was just solely focused on their capacities, their talents, their job, and their wits. Nothing distracted from the mission,” she said.
Moreover, Eiza said she found the concept of not having any romantic scenes in the movie to be “cool” as it’s different from usual Guy Ritchie movies. The movie is based on a mission and the major focus of the storyline being on that is a plus point according to the actress.
Well, it does make sense as a romantic or love aspect would have sabotaged the actual theme of the movie.

However, Eiza did admit that couple eventually falls in love at the end of the movie. As the credits roll, the couple share a romantic nod in the end which shows that they did fall in love with each other. “I love it because it’s quite a romantic little nod at the end that you see they actually fell in love, “And tragically, she lost him right after the second mission. People were risking their lives,” she said.
“We make it look very fun and entertaining, but these are really historic sweeping moments that changed history and changed the future that we are living nowadays, and we have to just be very grateful for what they did and how they honored their countries and what they did for us,” she added.
Both March-Phillipps played by Cavill and Stewart played by González have an abrupt ending to their just-started love life. If the movie gets a sequel, there might be chances that they both get a romantic storyline.
