In a recent interview with Elle, she shared her refreshing perspective, saying, “You know why I don’t worry about that? Because people have been asking me about age since I was twentysomething.” What was once a source of concern in her youth has evolved into a celebration of a life well-lived. “Now, it makes more sense, to discuss turning 50,” Cruz added.
“It’s a huge, beautiful thing, and I really want to celebrate that with all my friends. It means I’m here and I’m healthy, and it’s a reason to have a party,” said the wiser-than-her-age actress, and now also she is turning a year older.

Penélope, who shares two children with husband Javier Bardem also shed some light on her parenting style at their home. Luna and Leo, two pre-teens of the actress are not allowed to have a phone.
Of the decision, Cruz explained, “It’s so easy to be manipulated, especially if you have a brain that is still forming. And who pays the price? Not us, not our generation, who, maybe at 25, learned how a BlackBerry worked.”
In Cruz’s own words, it’s a deliberate move to protect the younger generation from the pitfalls of early exposure. “It’s a cruel experiment on children, on teenagers,” she emphasized.
On the question of letting the kids have a go in the industry, Penélope said, “It’s for them to decide if they are going to have a job that is more exposed to the public or not,” and then concluded with “They can talk about that when they’re ready.”
