After the success of ‘Call Me By Your Name’ and ‘Challangers‘, Luca Guadagnino is back with another queer film and this one surprisingly stars Daniel Craig in the lead along with singer Omar Apollo.
The actor came forward to reveal a few inside details about the highly anticipated film, giving fans an insight into what Guadagnino’s next big thing would be about. A surprising detail he revealed was a steamy scene he has with Craig in the film. Here’s all about it.
Daniel Craig Will Have An Intimate Scene With Omar Apollo In ‘Queer’
In an interview with Interview magazine, Omar Apollo detailed on how he got ready for an intimate scene with Daniel Craig in the film. He talked about hitting a goal weight and how the whole scene was executed.
“I had to get on the soup diet,” said Apollo. “Luca did not tell me to lose weight, but when you’re about to have a sex scene with Daniel Craig, you’re like, ‘Oh, dude, I can’t be looking off.’ I was at 200 pounds, because I’m six-five.”
He then added, “It’s around where I should be, honestly. But I got down to 181 when the movie came. I lost 20 pounds because I read in the script that my character had a flat brown stomach. I was like, ‘Damn, I’m actually not flat right now.’ I had to get it together, and I was on tour with SZA. Luckily, I didn’t have that many lines.”
What Is ‘Queer’ About?
Queer is adapted from the cult novel written by William S. Burroughs in 1985. The movie will have its Venice International Film Festival premiere this week and will soon be available for viewers. Set in Mexico City in the 1940s, the movie centres on Daniel Craig’s character, an alienated American expat, and his infatuation with a younger guy, played by Drew Starkey.
The film will be similar in style to Luca’s 2017 hit ‘Call Me By Your Name’ featuring Timothee Chalamet and Armie Hammer.
