Kanye West, a rapper, producer, and fashion designer posted an Instagram photo of a handwritten letter in January. In the letter, “Do not ask me to do a f***ing NFT” (and then adding, “Ask me later”) was written. Despite his outward reluctance, he may now be planning a move into the field of NFTs. We can say so by the recent filing of trademark applications by West.
Mascotte Holdings Inc., which is owned by West, has filed 17 trademark applications with the US Patent and Trademark Office. The application includes references to non-fungible assets and metaverse experiences. One file, in particular, mentions the possibility of creating an online marketplace for crypto and digital collectibles, currencies, tokens, and asset purchasers.

Yeezus Of Kanye West Is The Centre Of Focus
All of the applications revolve around the usage of the YEEZUS brand. Yeezus was the name of West’s 2013 album and a long-running tour. The papers were found by trademark attorney Josh Gerben of Gerben Intellectual Property. It is Gerben who made the news of the trademark application public on Twitter. The applications were made last month on the 27th.

Further, the applications include a wide range of prospective items outside of the crypto world. Some of them are fashion, video games, retail stores, amusement parks, cosmetics, and much more. Unfortunately, the papers only provide very basic descriptions of prospective product offers, and they don’t go into any depth regarding the sorts of NFTs West would explore or the types of metaverse experiences he might provide.

What Does The Filing Mean And What Is Its Intended Use?
In an interview during the Cannes premiere of his Cruel Summer short film in 2012, West showed interest in one day opening his own amusement parks. Also, even after the application for trademarks, we are not yet sure if Kanye wants to actually join this new sector. But then they do indicate a strong desire to expand the YEEZUS brand into other industries.
As we know, Ye made it to the news for fiercely criticizing the notion of producing NFTs. He did so with a handwritten message post on Instagram, but his filings show that he is now interested in embracing the metaverse.
