Kissing Robert Pattinson would have been a dream come true for many girls, especially at the peak of his fame. But Reese Witherspoon clearly didn’t share that feeling, as she revealed that kissing him in ‘Water for Elephants‘ was “very gross.”
Witherspoon made it very clear that the experience stayed with her for all the wrong reasons. Even though fans considered it the peak of romantic pairings, things weren’t so good off-camera.

When Reese Witherspoon spoke about filming ‘Water for Elephants‘, she made it clear that those scenes were not enjoyable for her, even though they appeared emotional and romantic on screen.

She explained, “He was literally snorting and snotting… every second,” she said while describing the experience. She added, “I’m talking green, infectious, disgusting… I’m not kidding!”.
Pattinson himself confirmed the situation and didn’t deny any of it. He said, “My nose is running all over the place… and Reese had this wig on, and literally, I was wiping my nose on her wig.” He also admitted, “The love scene in this, I was doing it when I had a really bad cold”.
The Reality Behind The Scenes Was Not At All Romantic

Pattinson was one of the biggest stars in the world back then because of the’ Twilight saga. Fans admired him for his looks and charm, and many believed that any actress would enjoy filming romantic scenes with him. However, it turned out to be the opposite.

Later in an interview, Witherspoon backed up his version when asked about it. She said, “He did have a very runny nose, yeah… It wasn’t appealing; it wasn’t pleasant,” making it clear that the discomfort came from the situation, not from any personal issue between them.
Interestingly, Pattinson himself didn’t find the scenes difficult to perform. In a 2011 interview with Collider, he said, “It’s really easy for me… I’ve got quite a bad posture, and I’ve got a big, heavy head, so it just slumps down, and she was in the right spot, naturally.”
