‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ Star Nicky Doll Sues Lawrence Fox For Calling Drag Queens “Child F**kers” After Their Performance At The Paris Olympics

Paris Olympics 2024 has been eventful so far with athletes from across the world putting their talents on display. The Olympics, in essence, doesn’t just celebrate sports, it also celebrates diversity and inclusivity. However, it is not devoid of controversies. The most recent one involves two boxers, Imane Khelif and Lin Yu-ting, who have failed the allegedly undefined gender eligibility tests in the past despite being born as and playing as women for several years.

While this issue still hasn’t let off steam, another one erupted after the July 26 ceremony featured a group of drag artists portraying the Greek Gods, and politician and British actor Lawrence Fox called them pedophiles on social media. ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race‘ star Nicky Doll has reacted to the problematic remarks.

The opening ceremony of Paris Olympics 2024 was a star-studded affair with dazzling performances. But the drag queen’s performance, which was a parody of Leonardo Da Vinci’s religious painting ‘The Last Supper‘, caused a major outrage among the netizens as well as many celebrities. The painting holds religious sentiments for a particular group, hence people remarked it as disrespectful.

Actor and politician Laurence Fox was also one among the many who condemned the performance. However, he went a step ahead and made it personal by calling the performers pedophiles. Taking to his his X account, he wrote, “No point in getting wound up when the child f**kers want to wind you up. Just laugh at the deviant little pedos. Eternity is a b***h.”

‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ star Nicky Doll has sued the politician actor for his distasteful comments. Doll, whose government name is Karl Sanchez, announced the lawsuit through her lawyer Anne Sophie-Laguens, based on the threats and online harassment faced by the July 26 drag performers.

Nicki Doll’s statement was loud and clear against the rampant homophobia that is still conveniently overlooked. “Stop Homophobia lawyers have received numerous reports of incitement to hatred, insults, online harassment, threats, and defamation,” the statement said. It also added that Sanchez, who rose to fame after ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’, has experienced “an unprecedented wave of animosity and malice”.

These messages go far beyond artistic criticism and for some convey odious and defamatory amalgams, equating drag performance to pedophilia. These comparisons are serious and unacceptable. It is in this sense that justice has been seized and that any publication or message equating Nicky Doll’s performance with the encouragement of pedophilia practices will be reported,” the statement further read.

This is not the first time when Fox has face legal action from a drag performer. He recently lost a High Court libel from Stonewall trustee Simon Blake and drag artist Crystal, and was ordered to pay £90,000 ($115,200) to each person concerned.

In a separate statement to Today.com, Nicky called out Fox directly for his past expeirnce of lawsuit by another drag performer. “I’m about to sue you again for defamation – the same exact topic that you were sued on and lost,” Nicky said.

She continued, “This is my kind of activism. I’m going to make him pay for the things that everybody else is saying, because I want to show that it is time now to stop labeling queer people in an evil way.”
