Ryan Reynolds Says He Dreamt Of Coming Second To Blake Lively As ‘Deadpool And Wolverine’ Clashes With ‘It Ends With Us’ At The Box Office

Ryan Reynolds chooses a happy wife over anything. The Deadpool and Wolverine actor stated that, for the first time, he wished for second place in the Box-Office. Ryan and Hugh Jackman‘s Marvel film has performed brilliantly. Meanwhile his wife, Blake Lively‘s film It Ends With Us appeared in cinemas on 9 August 2024.

On being asked how he feels about competing with his wife, Ryan replied that he has never before wished for a second position. Ryan revealed that both he and Blake root for each other. The Deadpool actor believes that this is the true mark of a healthy relationship. Blake and Ryan are the second celebrity couple to complete in the Box-Office after Demi Moore and Bruce Wills.

As Blake’s ‘It Ends With Us’ completes its first week in theatres against Ryan’s ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’, fans are excited to hear the couple’s reaction to each other’s performance. Ryan and Blake are the second couple after thirty years, to compete at the box office. In a Today interview, Ryan replied to the much-asked question, “The only time in my life I’ve ever dreamt of coming in second.”

Ryan claimed, “I think that’s the sign of a good relationship.” The ‘Free Guy’ actor believes partners should support each other, even in competition. He added, “It’s always been the one kind of constant with Blake and I. We really root for each other.” So far both movies have performed splendidly.

‘It Ends With Us’ Vs ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ Box-Office Collection

‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ was released two weeks before ‘It Ends With Us’, where Blake cameoed as Lady Deadpool. The Marvel production has garnered $1 billion globally and $494.3 million in domestic sales. Meanwhile, Blake’s film is about to start its second weekend in cinemas. As of yet, the ‘It Ends With Us’ reached $50 million domestically in its first week. Before its release, Ryan posted a humourous interview with Blake’s co-star, Brandon Sklenar.

“Last week I walked around New York City with Hugh, and it was wild — it felt like we maybe saved a baby from a burning building or something,” Ryan addressed viewers’ reaction to Blake’s release. “People really, really found a lot of love and joy and happiness in the movie. And that’s the thing I’m most proud of.”
