Even the most successful actors in Hollywood are not safe when it comes to getting tricked about roles in movies by big production houses. Halle Berry was one such celebrity who was almost manipulated into signing a fake script for ‘X-Men: The Last Stand’.
Thankfully, Matthew Vaughn came to her rescue, revealing that the studio had previously given a fake screenplay to him as well. After he opened up about it on social media, Berry gave him a shoutout, exposing the dark side of Hollywood. Here’s what happened.
Halle Berry Was Tricked Into Signing A Fake Screenplay For ‘X-Men: The Last Stand’
Hall Berry took to Instagram to thank ‘Kingsman‘ director Matthew Vaughn after one of his video clips resurfaced on social media. The post had him revealing how Halle Berry was given a fake script for her role in X-Men: The Last Stand.
The actress wrote in her post, “Ya just never know the shady s— going on behind ya back! Thank you Matthew Vaughn for bringing the dark to light.”

As the director of the movie, Vaughn decided to grab and read the script. But as he opened the first page of the script, he saw it had a scene in which Berry’s character Storm was saving dehydrated people in Africa with thunderstorms.
“That’s a pretty cool idea,” Vaughn said. “So I was like, what’s this? They said it was the Halle Berry script. ‘She hasn’t signed on yet, but this is what she wants it to be. So once she signs on, we’ll throw it in the bin“
Matthew Vaughn Was The First One To Find About Fake Script
Matthew Vaughn claimed that the script was solely made to make her believe that her character will have an extended arc in the film. In the video, he said, “Though, if you’re going to do that to an Oscar-winning actress who plays Storm, I quit; I thought, I’m mincemeat… One of the main reasons I quit ‘X-Men 3’, and this is a true story: Hollywood is political and odd.”
Unaware of the trickery, Halle reprised her role as Storm in The ‘X Men 3‘. Matthew was replaced by director Brett Ratner. Moreover, the movie earned more than $460 million and became a box office hit.
