“She’s Not Black”: Janet Jackson Questions Kamala Harris’ Racial Heritage Ahead Of Elections

Many celebrities have taken a swing at Kamala Harris‘ racial identity in this year’s US election campaign. This time, American singer Janet Jackson has raised objections against the Vice President’s cultural history. The ‘Scream’ singer told the readers that the Democratic Party leader is not of black heritage. In the past, many celebrities misinterpreted politicians with the wrong heritage.

Hulk Hogan, during his beer launch, incorrectly performed an ancient salutation of the Native Americans. The Republican Party’s representative, Donald Trump also demanded clarification of Kamala Harris’ heritage. Chiming in is Janet Jackson, speaking in favor of Harris.

In a recent interview with The Guardian, Janet Jackson stated that she does not believe that the candidate for presidency from the Democratic Party has black heritage. “She’s not black. That’s what I heard – that she’s Indian. That’s what I was told,” the singer stated.

Janet further stated that she had heard that Kamala Harris’ father was discovered to be of white heritage. However, the interviewer promptly corrected the ‘All For You’ singer.

Kamala Harris’ father, Donald J. Harris was a Jamaican-American economist with Black heritage. Meanwhile, her mother, Shyamala Gopalan Harris was a biomedical scientist from India, whose research revolutionized oncology advancements. Harris started to identify as a Black only a while ago, causing confusion and misinformation.

Janet Jackson does not have much faith in the 2024 US Presidential Elections. When asked how would she feel if a woman of color would lead the United States, she replied, “Honestly I don’t want to answer that because I really, truthfully, don’t know. I think either way it goes, there’s going to be mayhem,” he said. The 2024 election campaign has passed with a streak for the dramatic.

Joe Biden renounced his candidacy from the Presidential race in July. Republican candidate Donald Trump faced two assassination attempts and survived them. Moreover, the United States has its first-ever Black-Asian candidate running for the elections.
