‘Smallville’ Star Alison Mack Reveals How She Used Fame To Manipulate In NXIVM Cult After Prison Release

Allison Mack has been at the centre of the spotlight for a long time now. And now, she’s finally breaking her silence. Most of you will know her as Chloe Sullivan from ‘Smallville.’ But after the tragic incident and prison sentence, she has mostly stayed out of the public eye.

But now, she’s opening up about what really went through her mind during one of the most difficult moments of her life. And it just shows how much she’s changed since those days when she used her celebrity as a “power tool” to “get people to do what” she wanted.

When Alison Mack was arrested in 2018, it seemed like she had fallen from grace. The allegation was brought in due to NXIVM. It is a self-help organization that later turned out to be a sex cult led by Keith Raniere. The accusation regarding Mack was that she recruited women into NXIVM’s secret subgroup called DOS, where members were allegedly branded and made to obey Raniere.

Prosecutors said Mack used her fame from ‘Smallville‘ to attract recruits. Although it seemed like a personal development course, it later turned out to be a system relying on control and manipulation. In 2021, Mack pleaded guilty to racketeering and conspiracy charges for her role as one of the group’s key leaders. Even during her sentencing, the judge described her behavior as “callous,” saying she had laughed at people’s pain and led others in harmful ways.

After serving for nearly two years at the Federal Correctional Institution, Mack was released in 2023 under the First Step Act. And now, Mack has finally spoken up about how she sees herself after her ‘prison life.’

Since her release, Mack has tried her best to live a life out of the media spotlight. However, after almost two years, she has finally made her appearance in a CBC Uncover podcast titled “Allison After NXIVM.” The episode provided listeners with a raw and emotional glimpse into how she now views her past.

Mack spoke about the day of her sentencing, saying she couldn’t stop thinking about her family sitting in court. She described how painful it was for her mother and brother to hear the details of what she had done. She admitted that she didn’t see herself as innocent and apologized to them.

When asked if she thought she used her fame to her advantage in NXIVM, Mack never shied away from admitting. Mack said she used the success she gained from acting to help promote Raniere’s goals, something she now deeply regrets. She also admitted that she had been “very effective in moving Keith’s vision forward.” She fully acknowledged her role in the harm caused by the group.
