Taylor Swift is a name unto herself. The talented singer has a long and illustrious career and over 200 million records sold worldwide. She is one of the best-selling musicians of all time and is a recipient of 11 Grammy Awards and an Emmy Award.

The 32-year-old singer has recently been embroiled in a plagiarism lawsuit. She has now responded to the lawsuit that says the lyrics to “Shake It Off” were lifted from the plaintiffs’ ‘Playas Gon’ Play’. Taylor has said that the song is written by her and she has never heard the other song.

According to a report from Variety, the “You Need To Calm Down” has denied copying the lyrics of her song from anyone.

She said, “The lyrics to ‘Shake It Off’ were written entirely by me.” Taylor wrote in her court filing: “Until learning about Plaintiffs’ claim in 2017, I had never heard the song ‘Playas Gon’ Play’ and had never heard of that song or the group 3LW.”

The allegation from two songwriters is that her 2014 smash hit is copied from a single from the group 3LW that peaked at No. 81 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2001.

Taylor said she had little opportunity to hear it when it first came out. She said her parents “did not permit me to watch (MTV’s hit countdown show) TRL until I was about 13 years old.”

A few days ago, a report suggested that Swift has taken 170 flights on her private plane since January. Racking up more than 22,923 minutes in the air.

The number almost equates to 16 days though Swift’s average flight time is around 80 minutes. Taylor was criticized for this since she has been vocal about climate change. Her contribution of 8,293.54 tonnes of carbon is 1,184.8 times more than an average person.

A spokesperson of Taylor later reacted. “Taylor’s jet is loaned out regularly to other individuals. To attribute most or all of these trips to her is blatantly incorrect.”

The report also had names of other celebrities like Jay Z, Blake Shelton, filmmaker Steven Spielberg, Kim Kardashian, Mark Wahlberg, Oprah Winfrey, and Travis Scott.

Ever since the report came out, celebs like Taylor Swift and Travis Scott especially are under scrutiny. People have been expressing their anger on the internet for massive carbon emissions.
