Selena Gomez revealed in a series of Instagram photos from September 2017 that she has a kidney transplant at the age of 24 owing to organ damage brought on by lupus. She also later revealed her bipolar disorder, her depression, and her anxiety, and how taking psychiatric help helped her. Over years, Gomez has used her stardom and her voice to advocate and spread awareness about mental health. She says by coming out and talking about her mental health struggles she can put an end to the stigma surrounding this topic and inspire many others to seek the help they need.
