After leaving ‘The Golden Bachelor‘, Joan Vassos’s inbox was flooded with messages. You’d expect a few kind words, maybe some compliments, right? Well, Joan got that, and then some. “I had a hard time navigating that process because they’re total strangers,” Joan told EW.
And while some of these messages were harmless and rather sweet, others were downright horrifying. “I got dick pics,” Joan revealed, and yes, she said it as casually as if she were talking about the weather. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the worst of it. Joan also received bizarre requests from men with foot fetishes. One guy even offered to buy all the shoes she wore on the show. “It was scary,” Joan admitted.
Thankfully, Joan’s kids were there to step in and help. “My kids were like, ‘Give me your phone, mom. We’re blocking all this,‘” she recounted. And honestly, can you blame them? If this is what fame looks like, maybe it’s better to stay anonymous.

Other Contestants From ‘The Golden Bachelor’ Share Their Own Nightmare DMs
Turns out, Joan Vassos wasn’t the only ‘The Golden Bachelor‘ contestant dealing with these unwanted digital advances. April Kirkwood, 66-years-old, had her own horror story. “The creepiest one was an old yucky man,” April shared.
But it didn’t stop there. “And then right after, his wife [messaged me] and said, ‘Would you like to do a threesome?‘” she said.
Leslie Fhima wasn’t spared either. She received an offer from a man who wanted to be her sugar daddy, itemizing everything he’d pay for. Nancy Hulkower also received messages from men who were “a lot younger, and that didn’t work for me.”
While some might find that flattering, Nancy wasn’t impressed. She was looking for love, not a mid-life crisis.
