Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been attending some public events lately while their rift with the royal family seems to have left some steam off. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were prompt to offer their well wishes to King Charles and Kate Middleton after a double health scare. Meanwhile, their life away from the royal family continues.
The royal duo made a surprise appearance at the premiere of ‘Bob Marley: One Love’ recently. However, their presence there has not gone down well with many, and the duo is trapped in yet another controversy.
Why Is Prince Harry And Meghan Markle’s Photo With Jamaican Prime Minister Controversial?
During their visit to Jamaica for the premiere of ‘Bob Marley: One Love’, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle posed with the Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness. A royalist, Phil Dampier, has pointed out that Holness is a vocal advocate for turning the Jamaican island into a republic and severing ties with the British monarchy.
While it is unclear whether the duo wished to make any political statement by posing with him, many opine that it shows the duo’s bad taste for posing with the minister.
Speaking to Daily Mail on Wednesday, Dampier said that Jamaica was likely to hold a referendum later this year to burn all bridges with the British monarchy. “It’s almost certain they will go their own way eventually,” he said.
“Under normal circumstances, there would be nothing wrong with them going to a film premiere. But at a time when … Jamaica is making noises about ditching the monarchy, this is rather insensitive,” he added, speaking of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

Royalist Claims Harry And Meghan Are “Not Going Out Of Their Way” For Reconciliation
Dampier further asserted that the couple has visited Jamaica at a time when two royal family members are facing a health crisis. He pointed out that Harry and Meghan have not found the time to offer public support to King Charles and Kate Middleton.
“Clearly, the couple felt at home. But it’s sending out a message that they support that country when they haven’t found the time to make a public show of support for the King and the Princess of Wales,” he said.
“They may have done so in private, but they are certainly not going out of their way to say they want a reconciliation, and this appearance emphasizes yet again the different world they now live in,” he added.
Kate Middleton recently underwent planned abdominal surgery, While King Charles is scheduled for a procedure to treat an enlarged prostate. The duo has privately sent “get well messages” to Prince Harry’s father and sister-in-law. “[They] contacted both parties in different ways to pass on their concern and best wishes,” an insider said.
However, Prince Harry reportedly said he learned about Charles’s health emergency through the media as he was not informed directly. Buckingham Palace insiders meanwhile claimed that efforts were made to inform Harry and other royal family members before the news surfaced publicly.
