“To Turn Back Now Would Just Be A Waste”: Chris Hemsworth Says He Is Determined To Break Hugh Jackman’s Long-Standing Record

Chris Hemsworth opened up about wanting to portray a superhero more than any other actor in the past several years. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Chris Hemsworth first appeared as Prince of Asgard in the film Thor (2010).

During an interview, Hemsworth discussed the possibility of breaking Hugh Jackman’s record for the most hours spent portraying a superhero in one movie. Chris Hemsworth is the only MCU actor to get a fourth solo movie and his uncredited appearance in Doctor Strange was his eighth appearance as the God of Thunder.

Hugh Jackman played Wolverine in Fox’s X-Men series long before Chris Hemsworth was even considered for the role of Thor. Hugh Jackman debuted as Logan/Wolverine in the film X-Men as the character’s new voice actor (2000). The X-Men series has changed dramatically throughout the years, but Hugh Jackman’s look has stayed constant.

A cameo appearance by Hugh Jackman is almost always added to the cast, even if the focus of the film is on someone else. Including the cameos, Hugh Jackman has appeared in nine films. Until Logan (2017), Jackman (together with Patrick Stewart) held the record for the longest period spent playing a superhero.

Hemsworth is five or six years behind Jackman in terms of experience. If he wants he can definitely break the record of Jackman. Ali Plumb raised the question to Hemsworth in an interview with BBC Radio 1. Hemsworth answered, “I wasn’t gonna but now that you’ve put that in front of me, you make a good point. It’s only six years. I’ve come this far. To turn back now would just be a waste.”

Wolverine actor Hugh Jackman has announced his retirement from the character, but he has previously stated his intention to return to the role in the MCU. Marvel Studios currently owns the character’s rights following Disney’s acquisition of Fox Studios. In addition, Marvel has begun incorporating X-Men characters into its main cast with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

The return of Hugh Jackman’s adamantium claws is therefore not impossible. It’s probable that Marvel will try to convince the actor to return because the studio is all about satisfying the fans. As a result, Jackman’s tenure as Wolverine would grow, putting Hemsworth back in the driver’s seat.
