Netflix has been the king of OTT platforms for a long time now with a high numbers of users. The platform has different genres with outstanding storylines and actors. Henry Cavill is one such actors who has many films on the platform. Some of his movies have garnered huge viewership on the platform. If you haven’t watched them yet, here are three films starring Henry Cavill that you should definitely watch.
1) ENOLA HOLMES
Although, Cavill isn’t the main character in the film– Millie Bobby Brown plays the titular Enola Holmes, who you may recognize from Stranger Things. Henry is playing Enola’s brother Sherlock Holmes in this fantastic reworking of the Baker Street legend, a feminist frolic that should appeal to audiences of all ages.
Enola Holmes is a narrative about an average Victorian girl who loves mysteries, martial arts, and blowing stuff up, based on Nancy Springer’s Young Adult novels, and her continual attempts to outsmart her brothers Sherlock and Mycroft are tremendously amusing.
When you consider that Sherlock Holmes is the most filmed literary figure of all time (including TV and cinema), Enola Holmes feels like a breath of new air. It is even more impressive. Although the central enigma isn’t particularly intriguing, you’ll love the ride.
2) NIGHT HUNTER
Not to be confused with the same-named 1996 vampire-slaying film.
The film does not have a very good critic backing and the best anybody could say about it was that it was “better than Bloodfist 8” – Night Hunter was once known as Nomis, and it has a hilarious 14 percent Rotten Tomatoes rating.
It’s “Superman in a hood in a remake of the last sequence from Silence of the Lambs, but not as excellent,” according to Mark Kermode, and if that doesn’t entice you to add it to your watch list right away, I’m not sure we can be friends.
Night Hunter wastes the abilities of a talented ensemble – Ben Kingsley! Stanley Tucci! – with a “titter-inducing” (The Times) screenplay that offers a load of “twaddle” (The Guardian).
3) MAN OF STEEL
You may have a slight idea that this was going to be here, and you were not wrong.
The film makes it to the list because it’s fantastic and fans believe it’s underappreciated: on Rotten Tomatoes, it has a dismal 56 percent approval rating, which most of us believe is grossly unjust.
Cavill’s flawless casting as the heroic and too-nice-to-be-human Superman clashes with Zack Snyder’s too showy direction. Although, the film is considerably more ambitious and intellectual than normal superhero entertainment.
It’s more in the vein of recent darker, gritty Batman films than Superman Returns, and while it’s not entirely realized – the final half of the film is really dark. It’s a fascinating peculiarity because of Cavill’s superhuman presence that the last hour or so feels like it’s a separate movie.
