Luca Guadagnino is making queer films like no one else. After ‘Call Me By Your Name’ and ‘Challangers‘‘, the director is bringing another movie to the lineup called ‘Queer’. The film stars Daniel Craig alongside Omar Apollo, who’s making his acting debut.
Given that there are several steamy scenes in the movie, it is likely that the actors faced challenges while performing in front of cameras. It must have been difficult especially for Omar as it’s his first time acting. But Daniel Craig revealed that he didn’t have to worry about Omar at all because of the young actor’s approach to sex scenes. Here’s what Craig said.
Daniel Craig Says Omar Apollo Is “A Beautiful Human Being“
Daniel Craig spoke fondly about his co-star in the next film, Omar Apollo, and even called him a “beautiful human being” while discussing the upcoming project during a recent interview. Speaking about how difficult it was to shoot intimate scenes with his fresh-to-the-drill co-star, Craig said Apollo made it very easy.
“You just have to look after each other. That’s all. We’re all adults. We know what it’s about and try to make the scene as real as you can,” Craig said while talking to Variety.
Moreover In a previous interview with Interview Magazine, Omar Apollo also opened up about how he prepared himself for the intimate scene with Daniel Craig. He had to hit an ideal weight to be able to look presentable in the scene, as he mentioned during the interview.
“I had to get on the soup diet,” said Apollo. “Luca did not tell me to lose weight, but when you’re about to have a sex scene with Daniel Craig, you’re like, ‘Oh, dude, I can’t be looking off.’ I was at 200 pounds, because I’m six-five,” he added.
Daniel Craig Talks About The Other Aspects Of His ‘Queer’ Character
Daniel Craig was further asked about his character being “filthy” in the movie. The actor stated that it was intentional and important for his character. Daniel said, “In the 1940s people didn’t shower as much, maybe there once a week. But we also wanted the ink under his nails because he’s a writer but there are no scenes of him writing in the movie”.
He continued, “We wanted to indicate that by having ink under in his nails, reminding us he’s a writer”. Daniel further talked about his character being a drug addict in the film. But not much focus was given to that aspect.

“We didn’t want this to be a study of an addict because I don’t think it’s that kind of movie. Also, let’s be honest, Burroughs was a functioning addict for the whole of his life until he died [Burroughs died in 1997 at age 83]. He took it very seriously,” he added.
