    The shooting on the sets of Alec Baldwin starrer western flick ‘Rust‘ shocked everyone. On October 21, 2021, Baldwin accidentally fired a live round which killed the film’s cinematographer and fatally injured its director Joel Souza. The incident sparked debate over gun safety on film sets.

    Baldwin has been dodging the responsibility and has been blaming the crew of his film ‘Rust‘ for the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. Now it seems the tide has turned.

    According to The Hollywood Reporter, Santa Fe County prosecutors in New Mexico have announced that they will be filing charges of involuntary manslaughter on Baldwin. Mary Carmack-Altwies, the district attorney will be filing charges on Baldwin and armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed.

    Assistant director David Halls has also signed a plea agreement for the negligent use of a deadly weapon charge on the team of ‘Rust.’ Baldwin was given the gun by Halls which killed Hutchins and severally injured the film’s director Joel Souza on October 21, 2021, in New Mexico.

    In a statement, Carmack-Altwies said: “After a thorough review of the evidence and the laws of the state of New Mexico, I have determined that there is sufficient evidence to file criminal charges against Alec Baldwin and other members of the ‘Rust’ film crew”.

    Baldwin’s lawyer said that the actor was assured there were only dummy rounds and no live rounds in the gun. Under New Mexico law, Baldwin could face up to 18 months of jail time and a $5,000 fine if the charges are proven.

    The actor stated in an interview that he did not pull the trigger. However, a forensic report said that the rounds came out only because someone pulled the trigger. It is not clear how the live rounds got into the film’s set.
