The women, with their heart-breaking stories of abuse, flooded Hollywood with the #MeToo movement. Among these men was one of the most revered directors in Hollywood, Woody Allen. The director’s adopted daughter, Dylan Farrow, accused her father of sexual abuse and grooming. Despite Allen’ refutation of the allegations, they are heinous. Many came out in support of Farrow, including Greta Gerwig.
Great Gerwig is one of the freshest and strongest voices in cinema. The actress worked with Woody Allen in the 2012 ensemble ‘To Rome With Love.’ During a press conference, she refused to answer a question related to Allen. But, later, she expressed regret for working with the ‘Midnight in Paris’ director.

In the post-awards conference, she was asked whether she regretted working with Woody Allen, who has sexual abuse allegations. During the event, she deflected the question with blabbering words.
Greta Gerwig said, “Well, you know, I’m so thrilled to be here tonight as a writer, and director, and creator, and to be making my own movies and to be putting that forward. You know, it’s something that I’ve thought deeply about, and I care deeply about, and I haven’t had an opportunity to, um, have an in-depth discussion where I come down on one side or another.”
She continued, “It’s something that I’ve definitely taken to heart, and honestly, my job right now, I think, is to occupy the position of writer and director, and to be that person, and to tell these stories.”
However, later, the director confessed to regretting working with Woody Allen. She said that if she had known about the allegations, she would have never worked with him.
In an interview with The New York Times, Greta said, “If I had known then what I know now, I would not have acted in the film. I have not worked for him again, and I will not work for him again.”
Greta Gerwig was heartbroken for having caused pain to another woman. Dylan Farrow wrote two op-eds essaying Woody’s abuse and the biased reactions to Harvey Weinstein and Woody Allen’s cases.
The director continued, “Dylan Farrow’s two different pieces made me realize that I increased another woman’s pain, and I was heartbroken by that realization. I grew up on his movies, and they have informed me as an artist, and I cannot change that fact now, but I can make different decisions moving forward.”

Dylan Farrow, in an op-ed for Los Angeles Times, criticized celebrities who maintained silence when it came to Wood Allen’s allegations. She wrote,“It breaks my heart when women and men I admire work with Allen, then refuse to answer questions about it.”
One of the actresses she mentioned was Kate Winslet. The actress worked with him in ‘Wonder Wheel.’ While talking about Woody, she said, “I didn’t know Woody and I don’t know anything about that family. As the actor in the film, you just have to step away and say, I don’t know anything, really, and whether any of it is true or false. Having thought it all through, you put it to one side and just work with the person. Woody Allen is an incredible director.”
