After her debut as a ballet dancer in 2000 in the film ‘Center Stage’, Zoe SaldaƱa bagged her career’s biggest project. She was starring alongside Johnny Depp in ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl’. She played a smuggler named Anamaria in the film. But, that was the last time she appeared in the popular franchise considering she became the ‘Queen of franchise’ after starring in multiple ones. In 2014, during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she cited the reason why she did not reprise her role of Anamaria.

She said, “Those werenā€™t the right people for me. Iā€™m not talking about the cast. The cast was great. Iā€™m talking about the political stuff that went on behind closed doors. It was a lot of above-the-line versus below-the-line, extras versus actors, producers versus PAs”.

The actress continued, “It was very elitist. I almost quit the business. I was 23 years old, and I was like, “F***k this!” I am never putting myself in this situation again. People disrespecting me because they look at my number on a call sheet and they think Iā€™m not important. F**k you”.

Zoe SaldaƱa is a part of some of the major franchises in the world. She acted in Marvel franchises like ‘The Guardians of the Galaxy’, and ‘Avengers’ as Gamora. After the thunderous success of the 2009 film ‘Avatar’, she has been a bankable actress. Now, she will be returning to the Na’vi world as Neytiri. The actress has expressed she had ‘franchise fatigue’ after 10 years, but it is not worse than working on the sets of the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’.

In an interview with the Entertainment Weekly, Zoe confessed that she had a bad experience working on the film. The actress said, “It was my first exposure to a major Hollywood mega movie, where there were just so many actors and so many producers and so many crew members”.

Zoe narrated, “We were shooting in different locations, and the environments were not that agreeable, sometimes, to our shoot days. I was very young, and it was just a little too big for me, and the pace of it was a little too fast. I walked away not really having a good experience from it overall, and felt like I was lost in the trenches of it a great deal, and I just didn’t feel like that was okay”.
