Gwyneth Paltrow is getting ready for the holidays again, but she hinted that the season doesn’t always feel picture-perfect at home. Even though she loves everything about this time of year, she admitted the vibe in her house can feel a bit uneven before the celebrations even begin.
Paltrow teased that this yearly struggle leaves her feeling surprisingly out of place in her own house, especially when she tries to get everyone in the mood. And the reason for that lonely feeling has everything to do with the one person you’d least expect.
Gwyneth Paltrow’s Holiday Cheer vs. Brad Falchuk’s Holiday Fear

On her most recent “Goop” podcast episode, Gwyneth shared that she and Brad Falchuk couldn’t be more different when it comes to celebrating the holidays. She explained that she loves everything about the season: the decorations, the cozy atmosphere, and especially the Frank Sinatra Christmas album, while Brad reacts in the exact opposite way.

She mentioned that he dislikes Christmas music, hates decorations, and even turns his nose up at roast turkey. When she was asked if he looked forward to anything during the holidays, she said he mostly waited for it to end. That contrast, she admitted, often leaves her feeling like she’s celebrating on a completely different wavelength.
Luckily, she isn’t totally alone in her enthusiasm. Gwyneth explained that all four kids, her daughter Apple, 21, and son Moses, 19, as well as Brad’s children Isabella, 21, and Brody, 18, adore the holidays as much as she does, which helps bring the cheerful energy she needs.
Gwyneth Paltrow Admits She Feels “Alone” During The Holidays

Even with the kids adding warmth and excitement, Gwyneth confessed that Brad’s attitude still makes her feel “alone” during the festive season. Being the only adult who enjoys the celebrations leaves her spending the holidays without the shared joy she hopes for. She described their blended holiday traditions, saying that she and the kids celebrate both Christmas and Hanukkah.

Their Christmas mornings are long and cozy. They slowly open presents, take a walk on the beach, eat good food, and stay in pajamas all day. But she admitted that the experience feels different when Brad isn’t joining in on the fun. She also shared that she and the children continue to celebrate Boxing Day. It’s something they carried over from their years in the UK with Chris Martin. To them, it’s another day filled with relaxing, eating, and playing board games.
Gwyneth also revisited something she mentioned back in September that both she and Brad decided but presently regrets. She explained that they didn’t live together during their first year as newlyweds because they wanted to help their kids adjust gently to the blended family.
Now, she feels the choice may have stretched out the uncertainty rather than easing it. She said it left them unsure about how to move forward. Brad agreed when they discussed it earlier, saying that while kids should have agency. He thinks that giving them the power to decide whether the adults live together gives them too much influence.
Even though Gwyneth feels “alone” at times because Brad brings a Grinch energy to Christmas, she still embraces the season with everything she has. With the kids fully on board, she remains the center of holiday cheer in the house.
