Nicolas Cage Took “Crummy” Acting Roles For Financial Reasons
Thanks to back to back success of ‘Pig,’ ‘The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent,’ and recently ‘Renfield,’ Nicholas Cage is back on track. But he had to take on some acting jobs to ease his financial crises. He appeared on CBS ’60 Minutes,’ talking about owing IRS $6 million. It resulted from the untimely crash of the real estate market. He never filed for bankruptcy, eventually paying it all off.
Nicolas Cage told Sharyn Alfansi, “I was over-invested in real estate. The real estate market crashed, and I couldn’t get out in time. I paid them all back, but it was about $6 million. I never filed for bankruptcy.” Despite being a “dark” time, Cage fully committed to his performances and didn’t phone it in for once.

Nicolas Cage made over $150 million from his acting career between 1996-2011. He made $40 million in 2009, only to be slapped with a $6 million fine by the IRS later that year. He sued his manager for financial fraud and negligence. But Cage’s history of being a reckless spender can’t be ignored.
Dinosaur skulls and Albino king cobras are only some of the strange things he’s blown his ward over. He purchased a 40-acre island south of Nassau for $7 million. He also brought four luxury yachts worth $20 million, not to mention more animals, rare art, and a priceless pyramid tombstone in New Orleans.
