Not long after becoming parents, they separated again, and until now, both largely kept quiet about the real reasons behind the breakup.
In a new appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast with host Alex Cooper, the former One Direction member acknowledged he was not faithful during the relationship. He openly admitted he “spoke to other females when I shouldn’t have been,” explaining he was young and made mistakes many people eventually learn from.
He added that those experiences helped him grow and that being single now allows him to live without guilt and talk to anyone freely. The singer also said he has grown comfortable with solitude. According to him, being alone no longer frightens him because he feels at peace with himself.
Zayn Reconsiders His Feelings For Gigi
The conversation then turned to a 2024 interview on The Zach Sang Show, where Zayn had claimed he had never truly been in love. When asked if he still believed that, he admitted that his understanding of love had changed with maturity. He explained that at the time he believed his feelings were love, but looking back, he now thinks it may simply have been lust.

Despite that realization, he insisted he carries no bitterness toward Gigi. He said he will always care about her because she is the mother of his child and deserves his respect. However, he cannot say with certainty that he was ever actually in love with her.
Talking about his past statement, Zayn admitted that people may have read into his words in a different way than he intended. “I think people took it a type of way, so I’m just like, ‘Yo, I have so much respect for this woman, and I do love her a crazy amount,’” he shared.
However, he didn’t walk back his main point. “But yeah, no. I don’t think I was in love with her at that point. Otherwise, I would’ve been a better version of myself,” he added. He suggested that real love, in his eyes, would have reflected in how he showed up as a partner.
In an earlier appearance, he briefly spoke about the Yolanda Hadid controversy. He said he chose to handle the situation privately rather than defend himself publicly. Love him or question him, Zayn is choosing honesty over comfort.
