Alexandra Daddario’s Name Resurfaces As DC’s Wonder Woman Plans Take Shape

The DC Universe is in a state of quiet but deliberate evolution. James Gunn’s rebooted vision isn’t rushing to reveal every card at once, yet every casting update feels well thought out to hint at the next one. This is precisely why the recent remarks of Alexandra Daddario about her joining the DCU sound so timely. Not because she confirmed anything concrete, but because the wider DC puzzle is finally starting to snap into place.

The lack of Wonder Woman was conspicuous when DC Studios first announced its new movie and TV slate. Diana Prince, who is among DC’s Trinity with Superman and Batman, was nowhere to be seen. Jump to the present, and the picture is quite different. A Wonder Woman movie is under development, with ‘Supergirl’ writer Ana Nogueira attached. Suddenly, the question of whether Diana will have a future or not is replaced by the question of when.

With Brainiac Cast, DC Fans Are Watching Wonder Woman Closely

Against that backdrop, Alexandra Daddario’s openness to a DCU role feels less like idle fan speculation and more like a moment worth paying attention to. She is not being secretive or hiding behind closed doors. Rather, she has reacted with composure, grace, and in time. “I’m flattered to hear that it’s happening,” she simply stated. In the world of franchise casting, that kind of answer often means one thing: doors are open. And right now, DC looks like it’s getting ready to walk through one.

Among the recent changes that have been the most significant in the DCU was the announcement that Brainiac will feature in ‘Man of Tomorrow’. Months of speculation ended when Gunn confirmed that Lars Eidinger will portray the legendary villain. That confirmation not only gave credence to one casting rumor, but it also gave others strength. ‘Man of Tomorrow’ will be released on July 9, 2027, and the filming is planned to start in April 2026. That timeline matters.

Big ensemble characters are not booked at the last minute, particularly in the DCU that Gunn controls so tightly. After the official announcement of Brainiac, it was obvious that DC was already securing key narrative elements for the movie. Here, Wonder Woman comes back into the discussion. Casting calls that were similar to Wonder Woman and Steve Trevor started to spread. Gunn officially closed down the Steve Trevor speculation, but did not comment on Wonder Woman herself.

Silence can be very eloquent in the DCU. Since the rumor about Brainiac was proven to be true, fans now have a reason to think that other rumors, especially those about Diana Prince, may also have some credibility. In case Wonder Woman does feature in ‘Man of Tomorrow’, even in a small way, it would be a clever strategic choice. Introducing Diana alongside Superman helps re-establish the Trinity organically, rather than rushing toward a massive crossover. It also enables DC to flirt with its future without bombarding audiences with introductions.

How Alexandra Daddario Fits The Moment DC Is Building Towards

The context makes Daddario’s comments particularly relevant. Should there actually be a casting talk that is indeed heating up as 2026 nears, this is precisely the time when the names of actors would begin to quietly make the rounds. The potential of her taking on Wonder Woman’s role is not limited to fan art and social media hype. She is already involved with DC, having performed as Lois Lane in the animated Tomorrowverse.

That is no guarantee, but it does indicate that she is on the radar of the studio. More importantly, Daddario’s screen presence aligns well with what the DCU seems to be shaping Wonder Woman into. Gunn does not have his DC exaggeratedly pursuing spectacle. Rather, it is leaning towards sincerity, emotional foundation, and actors who can sell iconic roles without being consumed by them. Daddario has demonstrated on numerous occasions that she is capable of that.

Her reaction to the rumors about Wonder Woman was also refreshingly human. It is yet to be seen whether Alexandra Daddario will eventually become the Wonder Woman of the DCU. DC has pulled out surprises in the past, and Gunn has demonstrated that he is not afraid of changing things up. However, what’s undeniable is that Daddario’s name is circulating at exactly the moment it makes the most sense for it to be.
