Bradley Cooper To Reportedly Join ‘Superman’ As Jor-El To Pay Homage To Original Lore

With anticipation at an all-time high for James Gunn‘s upcoming ‘Superman’ film, the speculations have been going wild. Now, a major leak has revealed that Academy Award-nominated actor Bradley Cooper will be making a surprise appearance as Jor-El, the father of Superman.

As test screenings continue and details start to surface, it’s clear that ‘Superman’ will jumpstart the new DCU. Additionally, the film is expected to have a comedic tone despite the previous adaptations being very serious.

While various names had been speculated for the role of Jor-El, according to insider ViewerAnon, Bradley Cooper, who also voiced Rocket Raccoon in the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ series, will take on the role. This is an interesting move by James Gunn as he has a long history of collaborating with Cooper in the MCU.

However, while fans have heard Cooper’s voice as Rocket for years, this will be something completely different. Moreover, his portrayal of Jor-El is expected to be a short but impactful part of the film’s opening sequence. Jor-El, Superman’s Kryptonian father, has been portrayed by legendary actors in the past.

This includes Marlon Brando in Richard Donner’s 1978 ‘Superman: The Movie’ and Russell Crowe in Zack Snyder’s ‘Man of Steel’. Now, Cooper will add his own interpretation to the mix. The actor is expected to appear in the first few minutes of the film to set the stage for Kal-El’s journey to Earth.

While this isn’t necessarily a huge plot spoiler, it does confirm that ‘Superman’ will once again feature the destruction of Krypton. This moment has been pivotal in nearly every major Superman adaptation. The presence of Jor-El also suggests the film may pay homage to classic Superman lore.

Jimmy Olsen To Reportedly Have A Completely New And Hilarious Subplot

In addition to Cooper’s casting, another leak has provided insight into how the film treats supporting characters like Jimmy Olsen. According to the same insider, early reactions to test screenings have been mixed. While some fans like the movie’s quirky energy others find it too “silly.” James Gunn is known to blend humor with heartfelt moments.

Guardians of the Galaxy’,The Suicide Squad’, and ‘Peacemaker’ all had a similar reception. However, one subplot that encapsulates this unique tone involves Jimmy Olsen. According to reports, the film features a humorous storyline where supermodel Eve Teschmacher is madly in love with Jimmy, but he absolutely cannot stand her.

While this subplot may seem minor, it speaks to the film’s comedic elements. Additionally, it suggests that Jimmy will play a larger role than just snapping photos and hanging out with Clark Kent. With Superman slated for release in July, fans have a lot to look up to. Moreover, one thing that is certain is that this film is shaping up to be a fresh, unconventional take on the Man of Steel.

From its bold casting choices to its unexpected tonal shifts, it’s clear that James Gunn wants to break away from previous Superman adaptations. However, we fans will have to wait a few more months to see how everything unfolds. The excitement surrounding this project is undeniable.
