DC Studios has gone through a major overhaul under the new leadership of Peter Safran and James Gunn. When Warner Bros. and Discovery merged, the conversation about the revamp of the DCEU was already in place. CEO David Zaslav wanted to bring the secondary characters forward and revive the fan favorites. But the new leaders had to make some major changes, including canceling the sequel to the Dwayne Johnson-starrer ‘Black Adam.’
The most anticipated antagonist in DC Comics, Black Adam, was born with Dwayne Johnson playing the titular character. The film witnessed the comeback of Kryptonite, played by Henry Cavill, in the post-credit scene. However, James Gunn and Peter Safran squashed the dreams of seeing Cavill play Superman and the sequel to ‘Black Adam’ at once. Now, Dwayne The Rock Johnson has reflected on the cancellation of the sequel, blaming it on the new leadership.

Dwayne Johnson Admits Disagreement With The New Leadership Over ‘Black Adam’
Recently, Dwayne Johnson appeared on his friend Kevin Hart’s show on Peacock, ‘Hart to Hart.’ During the conversation, the comedian asked The Rock about how he felt after the discontinuation of the franchise.
Johnson answered, ” ‘Black Adam’ got caught in a vortex of new leadership. It was so many changes in leadership. Anytime you have a company, a publicly traded company, and you have all those changes in leadership, you have people coming in who, creatively and fiscally, are going to make decisions that you may not agree with.”

During the interview, Dwayne Johnson raised the question of why DC Studios completely gave up on the character. He said, “That will always be one of the biggest mysteries. You have the biggest opening of your career. Sure, no China, which could’ve been maybe 100 or 200 million more dollars.”
He continued, “You have a superhero, and you want to grow the franchise. You brought back Superman and Henry Cavill, and the world went crazy. And we created a diverse superhero portfolio, where we have just men and women of color in ‘Black Adam.’ “
