The Bat-Family is currently on the rise in DC Comics. With major additions like Damian Wayne, Bruce Wayne’s son, DC seems to be going all out in building an even larger roster. Alongside Damian, key members of the Bat-Family include Batman, Nightwing, and Robin. Now, the family tree has expanded with the introduction of a surprising new character: Alfred Wayne, Bruce Wayne’s grandson and Damian Wayne’s son.
DC officially revealed Alfred for the first time in DC K.O.: Knightfight #3, furthering Bruce Wayne’s legacy. As part of the celebration for Damian Wayne’s 20th anniversary, this move could significantly reshape the future of the Bat-Family.
Who Is Bruce Wayne’s Grandson, Alfred?

The reveal of Alfred came as a cliffhanger after Bruce Wayne was transported to an alternate reality by the Heart of Apokolips, where his son Damian had become Batman. DC K.O.: Knightfight #4 later revealed more about Alfred and confirmed that he was named after Bruce’s loyal butler, Alfred Pennyworth, as a tribute and a sign of respect to Damian’s former mentor.

In this alternate Gotham, Damian’s version of Batman appears to have completely eliminated crime. With the city seemingly safe, it became clear that Batman was finally able to start a family and have a son. Although Alfred’s mother has not yet been revealed, he appears to have grown up peacefully in Gotham while his father, Damian, protected the city as Batman.
Batman’s Grandson Might Not Be Real

Since the Heart of Apokolips sent Bruce into this alternate reality, it is possible that the world was created simply to test his strength and willpower. If that is the case, it also raises the unsettling possibility that Damian and Alfred may not be real at all.

While that would be a heartbreaking revelation, the Heart of Apokolips has also suggested that this alternate universe could collapse at any moment. Some fan theories speculate that Damian Wayne might find a way to enter the main continuity alongside Alfred, but for now, these remain only theories.
Only time will tell how this storyline develops, and whether Bruce will truly get the chance to experience life with his grandson.
