The first full trailer for ‘Supergirl‘ is finally here, and it sets up a story that feels both emotional and intense right from the start. This time, Kara Zor-El is racing against time to save Krypto, the one companion who still gives her life meaning.
While the trailer brings action, emotion, and a big-scale adventure, one detail has already caught fans’ attention. The film clearly follows one of ‘Supergirl‘s most loved comic stories, but a big change to the main villain might not feel right to everyone who knows the original.
‘Supergirl’ Fans Think Krem Looks Completely Different From The Comics

The biggest talking point from the trailer is not Kara’s mission; it is Krem. In the ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow‘ comics by Tom King and Bilquis Evely, Krem is a very specific kind of villain. He is depicted as a red-haired, confident, almost swashbuckling figure who enjoys cruelty and showing off his presence.

But the movie takes a completely different route. Here, Krem looks more like a rough, post-apocalyptic biker. He wears black leather, has a more generic edgy style, and doesn’t carry that bold, theatrical energy from the comics.
This change feels even more noticeable because the original version of Krem stood out so clearly. He was not just another villain; he had a personality and look that made him memorable. The film version, at least from this first look, feels more familiar, like a type of villain audiences have seen many times before.
The Story Still Stays Close To Its Comic Roots

Even with this major change, the film clearly follows the main storyline from the comics. Warner Bros. sets the tone with Jimmy Ruffin’s “What Becomes of the Broken Hearted,” which fits the emotional arc of the story.

Kara, played by Milly Alcock, has only three days to save Krypto after he is poisoned by Krem. This makes the mission deeply personal. Krypto is not just a pet; he is the last connection Kara has to something that gives her comfort and purpose.
She teams up with Ruthye Marye Knoll, who is also after Krem. He killed her family, and she wants revenge. Their shared goal brings them together, even though their reasons are very different. Along the way, Lobo joins them.
It is still early, and this is only the first proper look at Krem in action. James Gunn has built a strong reputation for handling comic characters well, so there is still a good chance the character will somehow work in the full film.
