For years, superhero fans have argued, memed, debated, and angrily posted their way through one burning question: What would happen if Superman faced off against Homelander? Now, DC has basically walked up to that conversation.
What’s wild is how both franchises, DC and ‘The Boys‘, are simultaneously pushing Homelander into spotlight-defining territory. Now, fans will more than likely see Homelander clash with Superman.
Homelander Joins DC’s Multiverse

At this year’s New York Comic Con, during DC’s “Jim Lee and Friends” panel, writer Scott Snyder stunned the audience by confirming that Homelander will officially appear in DC’s current FALL crossover event, DC K.O. This isn’t a what-if, or a fan comic, it’s a real, canonical crossover. The premise? DC’s heroes and villains are participating in a cosmic single-elimination tournament to stop an invasion from Darkseid.

Whoever wins gets the power needed to take him down. However, things take a wild turn when the heroes open a pocket dimension and pull in legendary figures from across other universes. It will be almost like bonus bosses entering a video game tournament. Among the guest fighters are Sub-Zero from Mortal Kombat, horror icon Annabelle, Red Sonja, Vampirella, Samantha, and then the jaw-dropper: Homelander.
That one name instantly turned a fun crossover idea into a long-awaited showdown scenario. Because yes, if Homelander is in the same arena as Superman, there is no universe where fans don’t get that clash. And here’s the thing: Homelander was created as a twisted reflection of Superman. ‘The Boys’ writers and showrunners don’t hide it. His design, demeanor, abilities, and public persona are direct riffs on the Man of Steel.
However, while Superman is hope, restraint, and compassion, Homelander is ego, paranoia, and suppressed rage wrapped in PR packaging. He wants to be worshiped, not trusted. That’s why this is much more than a crossover. It’s DC actually acknowledging the conversation fans have been having for nearly two decades.
‘Gen V’ Just Revealed Marie And Homelander Share A Secret Past

While Homelander blasts his way into DC’s playground, his home universe is busy rewriting his origin story in a big way. ‘Gen V’ season two has been slowly braiding itself tighter into ‘The Boys’ continuity. However, episode six took things to another level. The surprise return of Stan Edgar not only saves Marie and her friends from Cipher, it also rips the lid off one of the most secretive programs in Vought history: Project Odessa.

Until now, Marie Moreau’s traumatic backstory seemed separate from Homelander’s carefully hidden origins. However, Edgar reveals a disturbing truth: Marie and Homelander are the only survivors of Project Odessa. That’s huge. It ties them together not just thematically, but biologically and institutionally. They aren’t just two supes on separate paths. They were both part of a twisted breeding and experimentation program run by Thomas Godolkin himself.
Here’s the haunting part: Homelander showed powers from birth, so the program continued. When Marie didn’t display abilities until her teens, the project was shut down after her, written off as a failure. She was disposable. Edgar admits he’s been in hiding but hasn’t stopped maneuvering. He wants Marie’s help to rebuild Vought, and, chillingly, the world.
That may sound promising on the surface, but nobody with a functioning brain stem should trust Stan Edgar. Marie senses that immediately. Even after being offered shelter alongside Jordan, Emma, Sam, Cate, and Annabeth, she chooses to walk away rather than become another chess piece in Edgar’s long game. Meanwhile, Cipher may be weaponizing Thomas Godolkin himself, using the founder of God U to build a world where only the strongest supes survive.
