The Green Lantern Corps universe has never lacked in strong characters, emotional intensity, and drama across the galaxy. However, a new development in DC Comics has put one of its most hot-tempered heroes in an unexpectedly significant role.
In the new plot, Guy Gardner has long been regarded as one of the most unpredictable members of the Corps. However, now, has has transformed significantly, altering his status and appearance in the DC Universe.
DC Comics Elevates Guy Gardner With A New Power And Status

The development comes soon after Gardner became increasingly visible beyond comics. The timing seems perfectly timed with his increased presence in the DC storytelling universe. The change occurs in Green Lantern Corps #14, after the events of a huge intergalactic competition called the King Omega tournament.

In the confusion, Superman transfers his King Omega power to a number of heroes, overwhelming them with supernormal Alpha Energy. To Gardner, the outcome is a melodramatic development. The formerly boastful Lantern is now called the Allsight, a new name that indicates his increased sensitivity on the emotional spectrum that drives the Lantern rings.
Along with the change comes a bold new appearance, the flowing green robes, and even the revival of his old bowl-cut hair. More to the point, Gardner gets the privilege to see all the Emotional Entities that are related to the spectrum. These celestial creatures are symbols of strong emotions like fear and strength of will, like Parallax and Ion.
These entities are now suddenly vulnerable throughout the universe, and Gardner is a leader. He assembles a task force of Lanterns to find and secure them, and to transport the scattered members back to Oa, where they are safe. In a comic turn, which suits Gardner best, other Lanterns have started to treat him as though he were a prophet, which he appears to both like and dislike.
Guy Gardner’s Star Is Rising Everywhere

What is even more interesting about this comic storyline is the fact that it is so much in line with the increasing visibility of Gardner off-page. Gardner was the first screened Green Lantern in the rebooted DC film universe under James Gunn, when he first appeared in ‘Superman’. Nathan Fillion plays the role, and his performance reflects the abrasive nature of Gardner and his distinctive haircut.

The version of the hero, as presented by Fillion, has already resurfaced in ‘Peacemaker’ season 2, which assists in establishing the character in the changing DC Universe. Even greater things are in the offing. DCU’s ‘Lanterns’ is likely to feature other classic Green Lanterns like Hal Jordan and John Stewart.
However, the appearance of Gardner in the story has already been hinted at. Guy Gardner, who was previously recognized primarily due to his attitude, finds himself in the spotlight, both comic and on-screen, in a very short period of time. And frankly, it seems that the universe is finally catching up with him.
