Since ‘Superman’ launched the new DC Universe, the anticipation of its sequel, ‘Man of Tomorrow’, has been at an all-time high. Naturally, fans began wondering when the other two members of DC’s iconic Trinity, Batman and Wonder Woman, would finally step into this new continuity.
Previously, it was rumored that their arrival could come sooner than anticipated, possibly in Superman’s next outing. Since James Gunn has officially disproved those rumors, the response may not be as expected by some fans: relief.
‘Man Of Tomorrow’ Keeps The Spotlight Where It Belongs: On Superman

James Gunn, who never allows speculation to get too far, responded to the chatter on social media. He responded to rumors of alleged late-2025 Batman and Wonder Woman auditions by simply saying they were false. He didn’t stop there. When asked again whether either of the heroes would feature in ‘Man of Tomorrow’ in any way, including a cameo, Gunn replied with a resounding no.

“All these rumors of Batman and Wonder Woman auditions are false,” he put it simply. That clarity matters. Unrealistic expectations are often driven by silence in the modern spoiler-driven fandom. By being honest, Gunn will not have to face the disappointment that arises when fans expect surprise appearances that never happen. More to the point, it proves that Man of Tomorrow is not attempting to be anything more than what it is. It is not a Justice League backdoor or a Trinity prequel. It is a Superman story, first and foremost.
Why Keeping The Trinity Separate Is The Right Call

Leaving Batman and Wonder Woman out isn’t just damage control; it’s a genuinely smart creative decision. Their inclusion would have immediately invited comparisons to previous DC efforts, particularly that of Zack Snyder, in which the Superman sequel was also a catapult to other big heroes. Even if Gunn’s tone and execution were wildly different, the parallels would be impossible to ignore.

There is also a problem of storytelling. ‘Man of Tomorrow’ is making it very clear that Lex Luthor is a key figure, and Superman is not to be deprived of an opportunity to develop that rivalry in all its glory without having to share the screen or fan base. Introducing Batman and Wonder Woman into the fray, even momentarily, would change the discussion about the story and move to the teasers of the future.
Just as importantly, Batman and Wonder Woman deserve proper introductions. Superman received the platform to prove his existence in this universe, and the other two pillars of the DC mythology deserve the same attention. By giving them their own projects, DC Studios can have the liberty to establish what these characters are before dumping them into common narratives. So, when Batman and Wonder Woman actually appear, it will not seem forced or hurried. It’ll feel earned.
