The speculation surrounding Robert Pattinson’s portrayal of Batman potentially becoming part of James Gunn’s DC Universe has been a hot topic among fans. Now, ‘The Batman‘ director Matt Reeves has addressed the possibility.
Reeves’ comments leave the door wide open for discussions to continue. However, for now, Matt Reeves is staying focused on delivering a strong sequel to The Batman, which is slated for release on October 1, 2027.
Matt Reeves Might Add Robert Pattinson’s Batman To The Interconnected DCU

The director hinted that the possibility isn’t entirely off the table. “Sure, yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean, it really comes down to whether or not it makes sense,” Reeves began. “What’s been great is there was a story that I wanted to tell that we’re calling The Epic Crime Saga, which is the thrust of what we wanted to do. It’s been important to me to be able to play that out.”
Reeves explained that his immediate priority is completing the sequel. As for Pattinson’s Batman becoming part of the larger DCU, Reeves admitted, “What the future brings, I can’t really tell you. I have no idea right now except that my head is down about getting The Batman Part II shooting.”
Could Robert Pattinson’s Batman Fit Into The DCU?
The idea of Robert Pattinson’s version of Batman joining the interconnected DCU is both exciting and daunting for fans. His grounded, detective-driven portrayal of the Caped Crusader has been hailed as one of the most authentic and compelling takes on the character in years.

So, integrating such a unique vision into the broader, often fantastical world of the DCU could prove challenging. Reeves acknowledged the complexities involved. “We’ll have to see where that goes,” he said when pressed further. People also pointed out that Batman’s grounded nature doesn’t necessarily preclude him from the DCU.
However, it does raise questions about how willing Pattinson might be to commit to a decade or more of appearances in crossovers and team-ups. Historically, Batman hasn’t always been a central figure in Justice League stories. So, Gunn’s new DCU could allow for more flexibility.
