Netflix’s Latest Power Move Could Finally Revive Zack Snyder’s DC Snyderverse

For years, fans of Zack Snyder’s DC universe have been clinging to hope that the Snyderverse might return with its mythic heroes, poetic visuals, and operatic storytelling. After all, the release of ‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League’ in 2021 proved that fan persistence can move mountains.

Now, a new corporate development involving Netflix has reignited that flame. If recent reports are any indication, the Snyderverse might just have a shot at revival, and this time, the key lies with Netflix.

The entertainment industry was shaken recently when reports emerged suggesting Netflix is “actively exploring” a bid to buy Warner Bros. Discovery, the parent company of DC Studios. Initially, this sounded like a long shot. However, with Netflix’s ongoing ambitions to expand beyond just streaming and into full-fledged studio ownership, the idea isn’t as far-fetched as it once seemed. According to Bloomberg, both Netflix and Comcast were examining the possibility of acquiring Warner Bros. Discovery.

Netflix CEO Greg Peters even hinted at such possibilities, saying, “It’s our responsibility to evaluate all our options.” The real kicker came when Reuters reported that Netflix had hired Moelis & Co., the same investment bank that advised Skydance Media during its purchase of Paramount Global. This isn’t just a rumor anymore; Netflix is making moves. If Netflix were to succeed in acquiring Warner Bros., Discovery would gain full control of DC Studios.

This includes all the intellectual property tied to the Snyderverse, from ‘Man of Steel’ to ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ and ‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League’. And that’s where things get exciting. Netflix already has a strong relationship with Snyder, having backed his creative vision through several projects. That existing partnership could give Snyder the freedom and backing he’d need to revisit his DC universe in a new form.

Snyder’s Netflix Connection Might Fuel The Start

While Netflix’s business dealings are one side of the story, Zack Snyder himself has been subtly stoking the flames of fan excitement. In recent weeks, the filmmaker has been sharing photos of Henry Cavill’s Superman, Ben Affleck’s Batman, and other Snyderverse icons on social media. To many, it looks like he’s hinting at something, a quiet signal that the universe he built might rise again. Snyder has long been known for communicating through imagery.

When the “Release the Snyder Cut” campaign was in full swing, he dropped countless behind-the-scenes photos and unseen stills that kept fans engaged for years. This recent wave of nostalgia posts feels eerily similar. Additionally, it’s arriving just as Netflix’s potential Warner Bros. bid heats up. Moreover, Snyder’s relationship with Netflix remains strong. ‘Rebel Moon’, his ambitious space opera inspired by both Star Wars and mythic storytelling, is one of Netflix’s biggest original projects in recent years, with sequels, an animated series, and video games in development.

There’s even talk of Snyder developing other action-driven projects for the platform, including an LAPD thriller that was reportedly in progress. If Netflix ends up owning Warner Bros. Discovery, the pieces could align almost too perfectly. Snyder’s creative home is Netflix. Netflix could own DC. And fans have never stopped demanding the continuation of his story. With the Snyderverse still boasting one of the most passionate online fandoms in modern cinema, Netflix would have a ready-made, global audience waiting to support such a revival.
