‘Joker: Folie à Deux’ has high hopes riding on it for several reasons other than the massive success of first part. One of the most exciting things about the upcoming film is Harley Quinn being played by singer turned actress, Lady Gaga. This would also be her debut performance as part of the DC Universe.
While fans are highly excited about how she performs for the role, many are also sure that her talent would add a rich layer to the movie. her first looks as the iconic Harley Quinn have already been captured on the shooting locations, and her dedication is already visible which her fierce make up looks are further complementing. Amid all the frenzy over her appearance in the film, the casting director has some great things to say about her.

Lady Gaga Will Probably Blow Your Mind With Her Acting
The original film ‘Joker’ was a record-breaking movie with an overall earnings of $1 billion in 2019. With the massive success of part one, fans are expecting more from the sequel of the movie. Though it initially appeared that ‘Joker: Folie à Deux‘ was a standalone film focusing on the main lead and the master of crime Joker played by Joaquin Phoenix, it seems that the spotlight is slowly transferring to Harley Quinn.
The role has been played by many acclaimed actresses, including Margot Robbie. With the bar set so high, Harley Quinn has several people to outdo. Deadline recently spoke to the casting director Francine Maisler, who was also involved in the projects like ‘Dune’ and ‘Challengers’.
She revealed that Lady Gaga has surpassed all expectations while performing her role of Harley Quinn. “She’s so good in it, you guys. She’s going to blow your mind. I didn’t suggest Lady Gaga. It wasn’t my idea. That was Todd Phillips, before me. But I will tell you, she’s really surprising – and really good. I saw it and I was really surprised”.

Francine Maisler further gushed over Lady Gaga and her skills in the film, as she continued, “I mean, we all knew what she could do in A Star is Born, but I thought, ‘Oh, well, that’s kind of in her wheelhouse.’ Something she could do and just be real. But this…Man, she’s good”.
Maisler added, “Joaquin blows your mind, but that she could keep up with him, and be real – and not just wiped off the screen by what that role is and what the performance is – shows she’s good”.
The movie is going to be one of a kind experience, which is also described as “jukebox musical.” It seems that both Joaquin Phoenix and Harley Quinn are going to sing through the important scenes of the movie.
During another interview, Gaga herself contended that what is is bringing to the screen is authentic. “You know, my version of Harley is mine and it’s very authentic to this movie and these characters. I’ve never done anything like I’ve done in this movie before, so it’s all going to be completely brand new and really fun,” she said.
The movie will hit the theaters on October 4, 2024.
