Stephen Amell Reignites Hope For Arrowverse Comeback As DCU Fans Push For Revival

With the DC Universe being rebooted by James Gunn, there is one topic that is unexpectedly resurfacing frequently: the Arrowverse. The universe officially came to an end several years ago. However, its influence is still firmly ingrained in the fan culture.

And with Stephen Amell now discussing the prospect of coming back as Green Arrow, it has only added fuel to the fire.

While at Motor City Comic Con, Stephen Amell and his long-time co-star David Ramsey opened up about their decade-long roles in the Arrowverse. Their comments were warm, nostalgic, and surprisingly open-minded, showing that while the Arrowverse may have ended, the door to their future in the DCU hasn’t fully closed. Amell did not dodge the subject of a DCU return when it was brought up.

However, he also did not tease anything. Rather, he gave something much more sincere: appreciation and openness. Amell told the audience that he loves playing the Green Arrow. “But more than that, I like how it makes people feel… Not a day goes by that someone doesn’t talk to me about Arrow.” His response further highlighted how much fans resonated with the show.

Amell admitted he had no idea about how he would return to the DCU. However, he included something that immediately generated headlines: “I’d be down to do anything that makes the fans happy.” It’s not a promise. But it’s an invitation. Ramsey, who sat next to him, was equally forthcoming. While he did not directly say that he would like to play John Diggle again, he did confirm that there is one character: Darkseid. Yes, the god-like tyrant of Apokolips.

I love Darkseid,” Ramsey laughed. “I’ve never thought about who else to play, but Darkseid? Yeah.” Diggle’s actor taking on the role of one of the most iconic villains of DC is insane, yet not unattainable. Gunn has already demonstrated that he is not afraid of putting old faces in new roles. Still, when pressed on who should play Green Arrow and Diggle if the roles were recast, both actors responded with the same lighthearted defiance: “No, thank you!

Alan Tudyk Also Wants To Feature In New DCU’s Live-Action Films

Moreover, Amell and Ramsey were not the only people to comment, as another DC veteran also chimed in recently: ‘Superman’ and ‘Creature Commandos’ star Alan Tudyk. In another panel at Motor City Comic Con, Tudyk, known for voicing Superman’s Gary and bringing to life Doctor Phosphorus, Will Magnus, and Clayface, was questioned about when he would feature in live-action. His reply was simple: “I don’t know. He’ll call when he needs me.”

Tudyk said he believed in Gunn’s vision and acknowledged that he is as surprised as the fans by the constantly expanding DC slate. Amidst rumors of a ‘V for Vendetta’ spin-off, the DCU is rapidly turning into one of the most unpredictable and creative franchises in Hollywood.

Tudyk complimented Skyler Gisondo, the new Jimmy Olsen, calling him “hysterical” and expressing excitement at the idea of joining the show if approached. Meanwhile, fans are still lobbying online to have a number of Arrowverse returnees. The multiverse craze hasn’t fully evaporated. And it’s clear fans still dream of seeing familiar faces reimagined or reintegrated into new eras.
