“Do It Or Don’t Do It And Then Stand By It”: ‘Superman’ Star Rachel Brosnahan Slams Trend Of Actors Trashing Superhero Films After Release

Rachel Brosnahan, best known for her Emmy-winning role as ‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’, is stepping into one of the most iconic comic book roles of all time: Lois Lane. However, as she joins the DC Universe with James Gunn’s ‘Superman’, Brosnahan is embracing the genre wholeheartedly.

Instead of joining the hate train against superhero films, she is defending them. Additionally, she’s not shy about calling out fellow actors who do the opposite.

In a candid conversation with Interview Magazine, Rachel Brosnahan addressed a rising trend in Hollywood: actors accepting superhero movie roles, only to later express regret or outright disdain once the film doesn’t meet expectations. “I don’t know why people say yes [to a project] only to then turn around and complain about it,” she said bluntly.

Look, I don’t want to shit on other actors, but there was a minute where it was cool to not like superhero movies and to look back on projects like this and pooh-pooh them. Do it or don’t do it, and then stand by it.” In a genre that’s often the target of artistic snobbery or dismissed as shallow, Brosnahan’s take is refreshing, to say the least.

She’s not demanding that actors love everything they do. However, she is asking for consistency and accountability. Previously, Dakota Johnson, made headlines for throwing shade at her experience on Madame Web, stating bluntly, “It wasn’t my fault.” She criticized the overly corporate creative process. “There’s this thing that happens now where a lot of creative decisions are made by committee. Or made by people who don’t have a creative bone in their body.”

Then there’s our beloved Thor, Chris Hemsworth, who admitted after ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ faced backlash that the film may have gone overboard with its silliness. “I became a parody of myself,” he admitted, suggesting that the creative tone got away from him. Brosnahan’s remarks, in contrast, offer a refreshing counterpoint.

New Superman Clip Showcases Lois Lane And Clark Kent’s Chemistry

Rachel Brosnahan’s commitment to her role is already visible in her performance. A newly released clip from Superman gives audiences a taste of her chemistry with David Corenswet’s Clark Kent, and it’s electric. The scene is a quintessential Lois and Clark moment. It’s part professional rivalry, part romantic tension, all wrapped in the signature wit James Gunn is known for.

In the clip, Lois is interviewing Superman (fully aware that he’s also her boyfriend) and their banter is immaculate. She challenges him about the choices he makes while wearing the cape, and the conversation is filled with both humor and intensity. Her Lois Lane isn’t just there to ask questions, she provokes reflection, even in a godlike alien.

I’d come back,” she told Seyfried with a grin when asked about potential sequels. “We had a great time. There’s also so many people in this cast who I didn’t get to work with.” With her excitement and James Gunn’s dedication, the Superman reboot might just soar higher than anyone expected.
