Speaking on the red carpet at the Critics’ Choice Awards, Cristin Milioti didn’t hold back her enthusiasm when asked if she’d like to return as the power-hungry Falcone. “It’s my wildest hope and dream. I would be there in a heartbeat,” she told The Hollywood Reporter. Fans of ‘The Penguin’ already know that Sofia’s story ends with her behind bars at Arkham Asylum.
However, in Gotham, no one stays locked up forever, especially not a Falcone. Her return could be in several ways, Whether it’s in Penguin Season 2 or a spinoff focused on Sofia’s rise to power, Milioti is more than ready to step back into the role. When pressed on which medium she’d prefer, a series or a movie, she had an answer that would excite fans. “All of the above. I would love all of the above, yeah,” she stated.

The potential for Sofia Falcone’s return isn’t just a fan wish as it makes perfect sense for the direction of the Batman universe. ‘The Penguin’ has been a massive success for HBO Max. With just a single season the show has built a cult-like fan base and Cristin Miloti’s Sofia is one of the most loved characters.

Moreover, with Colin Farrell’s Oswald “Oz” Cobblepot at the center, the show has explored the gritty, power-hungry world of Gotham. However, the power struggle between Oz and Sofia was a highlight of the series. In simple words, she is too formidable a character to be sidelined permanently.
If anyone is capable of a brutal comeback, it’s Sofia Falcone. Set for a 2027 release, ‘The Batman Part 2’ can also mark Falcone’s comeback. While Milioti admitted she hasn’t been contacted about a role in the film, the possibility is definitely there.
Director Matt Reeves has already hinted that he’s interested in expanding the Batman universe beyond just Bruce Wayne’s story. In a recent interview, Reeves said, “I would love to do more spinoff series… but my big priority is to get The Batman 2 shooting and going.” So, it’s safe to assume that Sofia’s story isn’t necessarily over.
